Building a creative economy requires respecting heritage and the environment while encouraging civic pride by providing opportunities.
George Young has travelled the world reporting on various global events with the CBC and has seen the opportunities and possibilities.
Creative communities require recreational opportunities, cultural opportunities, great natural environmental and innovative educational economies while spawning new innovative industries.
George Young works hard at council as a visionary to bring about new opportunities and has dedicated himself to encouraging new tourism dollars to come into our community…”

VISION

Events Tourism

  • To take events tourism to the next level utilizing new facilities

Jobs

  • To create meaningful jobs that will give our youth choices when they graduate and stimulate our local economy
  • To work with existing businesses to maintain existing jobs and promote expansion
  • To create research, IT, and knowledge based jobs

Reduce District Debt

  • To develop a business plan with emphasis on local road improvements, and increased parks and recreation needs

Environment Protection

  • To work within the Unity Plan guidelines to maintain our treasured natural environment in Huntsville and Muskoka

The G8 has opened many opportunities for Huntsville and Muskoka. We can responsibly take advantage of the exposure we received, our new infrastructure, and our partnership with the University of Waterloo. We must also continue with our goals to reduce the District debt and to create initiatives that will protect our environment.

It is important that Huntsville continue to strive to be on the cutting edge of modern technology. Part of that process is to promote what we have to the Intelligent Community Forum, an international organization that rates towns and cities around the world for their hi-tech capabilities and infrastructure. It is here that potential new businesses go to see who the progressive municipalities in the world are. Working with Muskoka Community Network we can make this happen in this term of office.

Quote from local businessman
“After many years of frustration of trying to get high speed internet, I was finally able to achieve results.....thanks in part to my district councillor, George Young. It was not long ago that I mentioned to George how difficult it was to run my own Springhill Freshwater Company business as well as being at the mercy of dial-up when trying to conduct business as Chairman of the Savour Muskoka organization! With the aid of George, I am now in the 21st century and I can conduct business in a timely fashion....worry free of dial-up !!
Thanks George.”
